Ted was born in Glace Bay ,NS and immigrated to Boston, Mass at the age of 12 where he attended school at Charlestown and later received his license in the field of electrical technology.
He met and married his wife Maureen in Boston and moved to Toronto in 1970.
Past President of the Richmond Hill Rotary Club 2006 – 07 and Past ADG District 7070. Ted has been active in Rotary since 1982. He helped his club achieve Charitble status and encouraged members to participate at the district level. Ted was instrumental in having a town park renamed Rotary Park and increased membership by 30% through positive exposure in the community. The Richmond Hill Club was awarded the President’s Citation, Wally Large Membership Award, Oddy Robson Interclub Fellowship and Membership Development for 2006 – 07. Ted was also chair of the Richmond Hill Terry Fox committee, and organized an inter-club fundraiser at International Night raising $240,000 in 2007.
While Assistant District Governor , Ted also chaired the District membership Committee, assisting in forming a new club, the Scarborough Twilight Club.Ted is dedicated to diversity in Rotary and the encouragement of non tradition members.
During the 2008 District Conference, Ted ran a Diversity Membership Workshop to expand membership into the total community.
Ted and Maureen have two children, Monica and David, and three wonderful grandchildren, Ethan, Sydney and Austin. Ted is a double Paul Harris and a Sustaining Member. Both Ted and Maureen are Foundation Benefactors. Ted has owned his own electronic security company since 1988 and has worked on such projects as the NATO base in Cold Lake Alberta and Casino Niagara.
Ted looks forward to his role as District Governor 2012 – 13 and the challenges in an ever changing Rotary world. |
