Governor's Message - August 2010

I cannot believe than an entire month of this Rotary year has already gone by. Sharron and I have visited over thirty clubs during July. As with all my predecessors I am continually amazed and delighted with all the wonderful projects that clubs are carrying out in their communities and in the third world. These projects are changing the world forever.

This year RI President Ray Klinginsmith is asking clubs to put special emphases on : polio eradication, the six areas of focus and youth programs. His Presidential Citation document can be used by clubs to ensure they have a balanced portfolio. This document can be used by Committee Chairs as a tool to plan out the year.

As you have heard in my presentations to clubs, I hope to have all Rotarians in the District REFLECT on what Rotary means to them. Specifically I want you to reflect on what an HONOUR it is to serve the people of the world through Rotary; how PROUD you are to be a Rotarian; and how important EDUCATION is to your understanding of Rotary programs and its history. Understanding Rotary’s history will give you a greater feeling of pride to be a member in such a highly regarded organization.

I hope to see you all in Alliston on Sunday September 26 for the Foundation Walk. If you have not registered for the District Conference ,time is quickly running out.
