Rick Atkinson: Retire Right:

Ann Taylor introduced our speaker. Richard Atkinson, President of RA Retirement Advisors, is an expert in pre-retirement planning. Richard has helped people throughout North America to plan for a successful and fulfilling retirement.

As a human resources management specialist with over 35 years experience, Richard has worked as both an internal and external HR consultant in the manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, health and social services sectors.

In addition to a Master of Business Administration from York University in Toronto and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Richard holds Canadian Society of Training and Development Advanced Level Certificate of Achievement.

Richard is the author of “Don’t Just Retire – Live it, Love It!” a new in depth guide to retirement planning. Richard continued to explain that a successful retirement is about so much more than just the money! It’s spending time wisely, being physically, mentally and spiritually active. It means practicing good eating habits, being a successful time manager, continually enhancing relationships with your spouse, friends and family and living your retirement life to the fullest!

Richard explained that Retiring Right workshops are for people currently considering or planning for retirement as well as those who are recently retired. Each session is an insightful and entertaining way to learn about and prepare for a fulfilling and successful retirement.

Here are some of the topics Richard briefly explained the importance before you plan to retire:

  • Creating your retirement vision

  • How much money you really need

  • Saving money in retirement

  • Maximizing your leisure time

  • Building a health & wellness strategy

  • Identifying your legacy

  • Enhancing relationships with your spouse

  • family & friends play an important role, be with loved ones

  • Spirituality

  • How to deal with family challenges

  • Strategies for increasing assertiveness

  • The importance of journaling

  • Sex & the second language of love

  • Maintain your independence

  • How to live & love retirement to its fullest!

As a conclusion he says cherish your vision and your dreams and think of what you are going to be remembered for.

He mentioned that he has with him the book “Don’t Just Retire – Live it, Love It!” for sale for only $24

Sydney thanked our speaker for providing us a unique perspective presentation on retirement.
