Rotary District 7070 Earth Day Celebration on  Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM

Overview

Since the first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970 in the USA, it has now become an annual event in over 190 countries, with a wide range of activities that recognize the importance of our natural environment. District 7070 will be participating in a multi-district Rotary cleanup of the Great Lakes Watershed between  April 24, 2021 and June 13, 2021 to mark this year’s Earth Day. After a year into the COVID19 pandemic, participating in the cleanup offers the potential to engage in a hands-on environmental activity while respecting public health guidance relevant to each location within District 7070.

It is also a reality that many Rotarians may not be in a position to participate in this cleanup or that the public health restrictions may become more restrictive. Therefore, the virtual event will:

  • Raise awareness about and acknowledge the Earth Day

  • Launch the cleanup for many of the clubs and individuals able to participate in the cleanup between April 24t and June 13th, and

  • Reinforce the importance of Environmental Sustainability to Rotary and share Rotary International and District activities
