Hello District 7070 Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors!

This Rotary Year has gone by quickly and we are almost half way there!  Vaccinations and Boosters have been keeping us ahead of the COVID pandemic and the new variants, allowing us to cautiously get back together in person.  We still must be vigilant and keep our guards up!  While some of us may be vaccinated and comfortable getting back together there will be members of our clubs that feel or may require to stay the distance or isolate.  In the spirit of the 4Way Test we must be respectful of each and everyone of our members and find ways to be Inclusive and stay connected!

December’s theme is one of our seven Areas of Focus- Disease Prevention and Treatment.  Our Tuesday Talks back on November 9th, in the spirit of Foundation Month, gave us a great segway to our December theme.  Bryn Stiles (Past Rotary International Director and this year's aide to the RI President for 2021-22, Shekhar Mehta) showed us where Rotary Foundation money is spent and the benefits and highlighted the End Polio Campaign. We also heard from Rotary Foundation Scholar, Dr. Charlotte Hunter, a family physician with a special interest in HIV/AIDS care. She currently works at the St. Michael's Hospital Academic Family Health Team and at Casey House. She is also the District 7070 Global Grant Scholarship recipient for 2020-2021. She completed her MSc Public Health degree at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in London, UK.

This coming Tuesday, December 14th at   7pm, please join us for "End Polio Now - A One on One Conversation with Past Rotary International Vice President Dr. Bob Scott" moderated by Lynda Kay, Past President of the Rotary Club of Cobourg.  Lynda will interview Dr. Bob as we focus on December - Disease Prevention Month.  Dr Bob Scott's leadership over the years has been a major influence on so many Rotarians to help eradicate polio from the face of the earth. You won't want to miss this one.  Please remember to register to attend by going to the District Website, Events Calendar and click on the event, registration button!
