April is Maternal and Child Health Month

Dear fellow Rotarians,

The Rotary International focus for the month of April is Maternal and Child Health.  According to Rotary.org, “Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation.  We expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger.”

.....

Rotary.org has a wealth of information about Rotary projects around the world in this and the other areas of focus.  Log onto your My Rotary account to access information about current Rotary projects.  The Exchange Ideas and Take Action section titles will give you numerous projects to consider as a possible club project.

The 2019 District Conference breakout session ‘Saving the Lives of Mothers and Children in Guatemala’ presented by Horizons of Friendship in Cobourg was an excellent presentation focused on this month’s area of focus.  If you are interested in learning more about this project, visit their website (www.horizons.ca) for more information.

Yours in Rotary,

Beth
