Welcome to the Special Edition Year-End Celebration Edition of the 2022-23 District 7070 Newsletter.
The 2022-23 Awards Presentations and the District Governor Changeover Ceremony were held on June 23, 2023, at the Whitby Marina. Over 130 Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, and lots of friends of Rotary from all over the District attended the event. Here are just some of the highlights....
Past District Governor Lynda Ryder was the emcee and the District Governor Team hosted our annual District Governor Changeover Ceremony and Awards Presentations for more than 100 Rotarians and Rotaractors and their spouses from all over District 7070, on June 23, 2023 at the Whitby Marina. We are pleased to present Iosif's year-end closing remarks to everyone in District 7070.

Here are the highlights of Past District Governor Iosif Ciosa's address to the Rotarians at the District Governor Changeover Ceremony.....
During the awards presentation, District Governor Iosif Ciosa announced the latest addition to the Arch Klumph Society, from right here in District 7070...... Past District Governor Bob and Kathy Wallace.
The Arch Klumph Society Member is Named after the sixth president of Rotary, the Arch Klumph Society recognizes The Rotary Foundation's highest tier of donors — those who have contributed $250,000 USD or more during their lifetime......
District Gover Iosif Ciosa noted that this year, Dr. Bob Scott turned 90 years old.... a highlight of our Rotary year in District 7070. Together with Past District Governor Bob Bob Wallace, the Chair of the District 7070 Rotary Foundation Comittee, announced that in honour of Dr. Bob's 90th birthday, District 7070 is making a donation to the End PolioFund of TheRotary Foundation in the amout of $10,000.00 .
Dr Bob Scott thanked everyone and said that he should turn 90 more often.
District Governor Iosif Ciosa and Past District Governor Bob Scott presented the Dr. Bob Scott Diease Prevention and Treatment Award to Dr. Ruth Mathieson (Rotary Club of Belleville). For many years Dr, Ruth travelled to Matangwe in Kenya. Matangwe is an area in Northwest Kenya that consists of 17 villages scattered over a 10 kilometer radius, which serves 20,000 people directly, plus 4 islands in Lake Victoria with a population of 10,000, indirectly. For the past few years advancing age has prevented Ruth from travelling to Matangwe but she has continued to provide support and is currently pulling together a district grant go upgrade the maternity facility. The award was accepted by Assistant Governor Brenda Hellyer.

Past District Governor Ron Dick presented the 2021-22 Rotary Foundation Banners to Rotary Clubs in District 7070 who have made outstanding donations to the Rotary Foundation in the 2020-21 Rotary year..
As you may recall, the Changeover takes place by way of exchanging Rotary Pins. This year, we got the real thing , LIVE at the Whitby Mariina. on June 23, 2023
Our new District Governor John Burns ended the Ceremonies, and made his final remarks as District Governor Elect by thanking Iosif for his outstanding Rotary year. Please Read more .....
On June 24, 2023. in front of over 100 Rotarians from over 40 clubs at the Whitby Ontario Canada Marina, District Governor Elect John Burns (on the left) and current District Governor Iosif Ciosa (on the right) proudly show us the Rotary Themes and welcomed everyone to the Changeover ceremony and they handed out lots of annual awards out to Rotarians, Rotary Clubs and to Interact and Rotarct clubs too. What a great night !!! Thank you to Rachel Boyd (Bowmanville) , Joe Solway (Bowmanville) and Peter Hernandez (Oshawa) for all of the fantastic photos.....
