Journey of Hope has a track record of 10 trips to Africa involving 120 volunteer students and over $150,000 in assistance. Rotary says Thank You, Jeff Kawzenuk. No two clubs in the Rotary world are the same, and yet many of them share similar membership challenges. The State of Membership Midyear Update reports on how we are doing halfway through 2018-19 and suggests ways to address some common membership challenges so we can finish the year strong. What Is your Rotary Club doing to focus on Water and Sanitation in March 2019? Clean water and sanitation is a human right. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives. We don’t just build wells and walk away. Rotary members integrate water, sanitation, and hygiene into education projects. When children learn about disease transmission and practice good hygiene, they miss less school. And they can take those lessons home to their families, expanding our impact.

The Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise has been providing supports to the people of Consuelo and the surrounding batteys in the Dominican Republic for two decades, and one of the more recent programs that we have delivered has been ”Kits for Girls”, under the direction of Margaret Jarvest. We recognized the strong need for young girls to be able to attend school every day, without a girl’s menstrual cycle prohibiting her from taking part in formal learning.

Rotary Clubs, like any other organizations, need to have a plan for where they are heading. In order to assist Clubs to develop a vision, the District has a team of experienced Rotarians who can facilitate visioning sessions. Since we started the program, five or six years ago, close to 40 Cubs have held sessions. A few Clubs have held two or three sessions, up-dating their vision on a regular basis.
