Rotary Statement on the War Against Ukraine

Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation stand with the United Nations General Assembly in expressing grave concern at “the ongoing human rights and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, in particular at the reports of violations and abuses of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law by the Russian Federation.”

As a global humanitarian organization, Rotary takes a proactive stance toward peacemaking by addressing the underlying causes of conflict.

We support recent UN General Assembly resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian military forces from Ukraine. This aligns with Rotary’s deep commitment to promoting peace through dialogue and conflict resolution.

We are working beside our partners in the international relief community to help provide resources to the more than 10 million Ukrainian refugees forced to flee the field of battle.

See the Weekly Updates on Polio Eradication from Rotary & GPEI - Global Polio Eradication Initiative

Follow the latest news on Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio, every week. Here is a link to the latest cases - updated every week. See the country-specific section and more details, right here at http://polioeradication.org/polio-today/polio-now/this-week/.  In Pakistan, a new case of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) has been reported from North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with onset of paralysis on April 9.  It is the first reported WPV1 case from the country since January 2021. The isolated WPV1 is linked to virus isolated from an environmental sample from Bannu, in the same province, collected on April 5. Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta, WHO GPEI Director Aidan O’Leary and Dr Sarthak Das, Chief Executive Officer of the Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance offer their views on what lessons and experiences from polio and malaria can be drawn for existing and future pandemics, in an op-ed published in Health Policy Watch.  Read it here.

Understanding The Role of Gender in Polio Eradication

The wild poliovirus still paralyzes children in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In those countries and many others, gender can play a role in vaccination efforts. It’s important to consider how mothers and fathers make decisions about their children’s health care and to understand who in a community is delivering immunizations, says Heather Monnet, external relations officer and gender focal point for polio eradication for the World Health Organization. Recognizing the importance of women who work in the polio program and dismantling gender-related barriers in order to reach all children with the polio vaccine are key to overcoming the remaining challenges to ending polio. Learn more about the part women play in polio immunization work.

Help Us Provide Polio Immunizations

When you make a contribution to Rotary’s polio eradication efforts, you help us reach vulnerable children with the polio vaccine and other essential health services. And with donations matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, your contribution goes even further toward ending polio and supporting healthy communities. DONATE TODAY

Rotary's Polio Eradication Strategy 2022-26 - Delivering On A Promise

Rotary and our Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) partners have launched the Polio Eradication Strategy 2022-2026: Delivering on a Promise to overcome the remaining challenges to ending polio, including last year’s increase in polio cases caused by a pause in vaccination campaigns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders from Pakistan and Afghanistan — the last two countries where wild polio remains endemic — have recommitted to working with the GPEI to improve vaccination campaigns and reach at-risk children. As long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere.

In addition to providing a roadmap to eradication, the new strategy calls for renewed political and financial commitments from governments and donors to achieve a polio-free world. Learn more about the action underway to eradicate polio.

  • A description of where you are now, the Club’s status.

  • As a group, you and your club members decide what and where you want to be in two, three years.

What's Larry's Email Address?

It was a rainy day when I got the call.

He needed to know, right away,

"What's his email" he did say.

Holding my cell I wanted to yell, please, please, give me the spell,

The magic we found, by bringing it down

Gave way to new sight: email addresses, events, phone numbers....ah.....the light!

With rushing to cheer, the awakening is here!

Downloading the Clubrunner app, all with a fingertip,  it was a snap,

Your club members detail will be very clear, your district executives have no fear.

You'll find what you wish,  there'll be no need to fish.  It's smart on your cell, just do it....time will tell. Read more.....
