The project is the removal replacement of asbestos roof on public school roof and replacing it with a harvest rainwater for school. 

  • The school is St.Ignatius Primary School at Avarampatty Village, Manapparai Taluk, which is in the very poor part of southern India. 
  • The school teaches grades 6 – 8. 
  • Many children are orphans or children of the poor in the region. Young girls and boys walk from miles around to attend the school. 60 of the 80 in attendance are children from the local orphanage. 
  • The school roof will integrate a rainwater harvesting system benefiting the school children and staff. The State provides funding for the school to operate and pays/supplements the teachers salary. 
  • It is sustainable. 
  • The Cooperating Organization is Deva Kirubal Social Help Association in India, which runs the local orphanage will also be assisting where required. This website is will provide background of the organization http://www.dksha.org/
