District 7070 is please to announce that the 2021 People of WASH Photo and Video contest sponsored by WASRAG with Second place in the armature video category goes to the Rotary Club of Newmarket. Congratulations to District 7070 Areas of Focus Chair, Richard Mewhinney and his Newmarket team. The video was produced after  Richard's last visit to Ongutoi in December 2019 just prior to COVID-19.  Although much progress has happened since the production on this video, where all the objectives of both 2020 and 2021 have been completed, the outline of this video is still accurate, and we look forward to being able to update this video sooner than later. Many Rotary Clubs in District 7070 and from across Canada have contributed. To see the video and see some of the photos, please Read more.....

Spring 2020 Expansion Collection Platform

Spring 2021 expansion of Pilot Platform

Needless to say, there has been substantial progress since 2019 and we look forward to our first small harvest of fruit for sale in September 2021.

The next step is to begin the process of launching a Global Grant to fully expand the pilot project with a redesigned and improved water collection platform and expansion of the orchard with an estimated additional 2,500 trees to provide the necessary revenue to ensure self-sustainability for Free health Care on a long term basis.

We encourage all Rotary Clubs in District 7070 to participate with this Global Grant.
