Congratulations to District Governor Niecy Dillon-Tyrovolas and her District 7070 Conference Committee on a tremendous Conference 2025.

In the words of our District Governor Niecy Dillon-Tyrovolas: "The 2025 District 7070 Conference has officially come to an end — and what an unforgettable weekend it was! October 24-26, 2025. The best conference committee ever brought my vision to life, and together we created something truly magical at beautiful Fern Resort. From inspiring speakers sharing their real-life stories, to incredible hands-on breakout sessions, to a chilly-but-cheerful Polio Plunge in the lake — we did it all! And of course… onesies, flip-flops, laughter, fellowship, and that surprise “Sweet Caroline” singalong that had everyone smiling and swaying. Thank you to everyone who came, participated, and helped make this weekend so special. Thank you District 7070".

In the words of Conference Chair Mark Chipman, The 2025 Rotary District Conference was filled with fun and laughter but also quite meaningful - we raised $22,000 for The End Polio Now campaign with our Polio Plunge into cold Lake Cochiching and our ‘wear a onesie’ night. Thank you to Dr Raffy Chouljian, who added $20,000 to that amount. We packed 10,800 meals for food banks in Ontario and Haiti, created hygiene kits for young women in the Dominican helping to keep them in school, assisted with funding support for an innovative project conceived by area students, celebrated and learned about the many Rotary projects around the world and joined with local Indigenous friends and students from the Honouring Indigenous Peoples Youth to Youth initiative for a cultural learning experience.

Lots of photos in a photo album right here on our Rotary District 7070 website. Thank you to all of the photographers. Enjoy them all.

On Saturday, October 25, at the Rotary District 7070 Conference at the Fern Resort in Orillia, Ontario , Emmy Nah, Amrutha Kosuri and Veera Kalsi, three students from Blakelock High School in Oakville, Ontario were named regional finalists in Samsung's Solve For Tomorrow nation-wide competition that encouraged students to develop STEM solutions to real world problems. They presented their solution to Rotarians from southern Ontario Canada in District 7070. These three young innovators created Bye-Catch - a solution to protect endangered sharks from bycatch ( the incidental capture of non-target species) by commercial fishers. (see: byecatch.caThe students told us that they did not have the $3,000 needed to construct the prototype fishing net . In typical Rotarian fashion, we reached into our pockets and raised $4,650 for this initiative. They can now create their prototype net and continue with their solution .
