What a special night it was , as Durham College and Rotary invited the world to watch "LIVE” from Durham College's new Global Classroom on October 21, 2021.

The 10 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region (and the Rotary Club of Port Hope ), on behalf of your co-hosts, the Rotary Clubs of Oshawa and Oshawa-Parkwood and Durham College invited the world to District 7070's World Polio Day 2021 - Live from The Rotary Global Classroom at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario Canada..........

The event ran from 7 pm to about 8:30 pm live from The Rotary Global Classroom.

Local Durham Region leaders welcomed and thanked Rotary for everything we do in our communities especially helping to End Polio Now. We heard Professor and founder of the Rotary Global Classroom Lon Appleby, the President of Durham College Don Lovisa, MP (and fellow Rotarian) Colin Carrie, MPP Jennifer French, and our District Governor Ron Dick. 

Dr, Bob Scott, (past Rotary International Vice-President and Chair Emeritus of the Rotary International Polio Plus Committee ) led a panel discussion with Shekhar Mehta (President of Rotary International) , Valarie Wafer, (Vice President of Rotary International), Mike McGovern, (the current Chair of the Rotary International Polio Plus Committee), and Dr. Tunji Funsho (Rotary International Polio Plus Chair in Nigeria) . We also heard from Jennifer Jones , incoming President of Rotary International. Together, they will updated all of us about Rotary's efforts with our Global Polio Eradication initiative Partners and our challenge, going forward to End Polio Now and how we can help eradicate Polio from this world.

We also showed the Rotary International 2021 World Polio Day video.

CITY OF TORONTO PROCLAIMS OCTOBER 24 AS WORLD POLIO DAY:

Very Proud to represent District 7070 Rotarians and Rotaractors along with District Governor Ron Dick, District Governor Elect  Iosif Ciosa and World Polio Day Chair  Jennifer Boyd, at Toronto City Hall to receive the World Polio Day proclamation from the City of Toronto and raise the End Polio Now flag for World Polio Day. Stay tuned on Sunday for World Polio Day celebrations and see the Toronto sign and CN Tower light up in Yellow, Red and White for World Polio Day colours!
