Welcome to the New Rotary Year, 2022/2023!
Greetings fellow Rotarians from Illustrious District 7070!
It is with great honour and privilege, I step into the role of District Governor to serve in the 2022-2023 Rotary Year. July 1 signals the beginning of the new Rotary Year, it is always an exciting time, with renewed vigor, plans are made, goals are set and excitement fills the air. The Ribfests, food events, festivals and all kinds of fundraisers are in full swing.
I would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to our immediate past District Governor Ron Dick for his leadership in a very trying year as the world was navigating the ever-changing COVID pandemic.
There is a new normal, a normal where we will still use Zoom to communicate and meet, and return to in person meetings, hands on projects, and fundraisers.
Rotary is 117 years old and going strong. There is a reason why Rotary continues to be relevant in the world today. People, identify Rotary for our service, our dedication to make a difference in the lives of others. Rotary stood the test of time because of people like you! You have stepped up to make the world a better place! You tackle problems and find solutions to tough issues! Your passion, drive and resolve to make a difference, inspires me.
We are touching Rotary History!
Rotaractors have joined Rotarians as a new type of Rotary membership type.
We have our first woman as Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, a Canadian from Windsor! The theme for this year is “Imagine Rotary”. Imagine what you can do in the years to come… Jennifer challenges us to become creative and to imagine the possibilities in the changes we can make to transform the world. She encourages us to “make sure we engage our members so they love their clubs and their Rotary experience”. When an organization like Rotary dreams about big things like ending polio and creating peace, she said, it becomes our responsibility to make them happen. “You don’t imagine yesterday,” Jones said, “you imagine tomorrow.”
We as Rotarians are change makers, the place you come if you want to make a positive difference in the world. My commitment to you is to provide you with inspiration, resources and support to grow and connect Rotary.
