In his March 2023 Newsletter, District Governor Iosif Ciosa talks about March being Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Month and reminds us all that clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life. If you are interested in initiating or participating in a project for this focus area, please contact: PDG Ron Denham, Chair Emeritus of WASRAG (the Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group). Ron, is a member of the Eglinton Rotary Club.  He reminds us that World Rotaract Week is March 13-19 and that invites all of us to sign up for and attend District 7070's March 8 International Womens' Day LIVE from the Rotary Global Classroom at Durham College in Oshawa (or watch on line) . He also invites everyone to sign up and March with the Toronto Rotary Club in the St Patrick's Day Parade in Toronto..........

Greetings 7070 Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors. March is Here !!!

March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month.

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life.

When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families. Through water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.

The Rotary Foundation has invested over $148 million dollars in water, sanitation, hygiene and water resource management interventions globally.  When people, especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives. We don’t just build wells and walk away.

Rotary members integrate water, sanitation, and hygiene into education projects. When children learn about disease transmission and practice good hygiene, they miss less school. And they can take those lessons home to their families, expanding our impact.

If you are interested in initiating or participating in a project for this focus area, please contact: PDG Ron Denham, Chair Emeritus of WASRAG (the Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group). Ron, is a member of the Eglinton Rotary Club.

March 13-19 marks World Rotaract Week. During this week I encourage you to reach out to a Rotaract Club and ask them to take part in your meeting, a hands-of-project or a social event.
