NOVEMBER IS FOUNDATION MONTH

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary International, we tap into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities`, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition, and supporting the environment with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.

Strong financial oversight, a stellar charity rating, and a unique funding model mean that we make the very most of your contribution. Give and become a part of Rotary’s life-changing work!

The collective leadership and expertise of our 1.4 million members helps us tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges, locally and globally. We are united by common values and vision for the future as we sharpen our focus with targeted specific causes that will reach communities most in need.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

For more than 117 years, our guiding principles have been the foundation upon which our values and tradition stand. The Four-Way Test, Object of Rotary, and the Avenues of Service express our commitment to service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership.

Why are Rotarians focusing on the Rotary Foundation this month?

The short answer is: because it’s time to give to the Foundation so the Foundation can give back to us.

But wait! Most people join Rotary to meet people and volunteer in their own communities. Who needs a Foundation to do that?  WE DO, so we can make positive, lasting changes in our communities and the world.

The Rotary Foundation works on the local level as well. Each club may apply for a Foundation grant to support their own humanitarian projects, scholarships and training. We give to the Foundation so that all clubs may benefit.

The Rotary Foundation does not spend money to make money. Donations are invested for three years and then disbursed to programs and grants. A portion of the interest income pays for promoting and managing the Foundation. All – 100% – of the donations made by Rotarians goes to projects, scholarships and training.

Here are some examples of how to commemorate the November Foundation Month:

  • Plan a special Rotary Day and invite everyone in your community to participate. It can be anything from a concert to a race to a birthday party with a giant cake in the shape of the Rotary wheel.

  • Hold a fundraiser in your community to support a Foundation grant project, the Rotary Peace Centers, or PolioPlus.

  • Organize or participate in a global grant or district grant project.

  • Promote your club or district projects that are funded by the Foundation.

  • Dedicate some club meetings to Rotary Foundation topics.

  • Challenge members to increase your club’s contributions to the Foundation.

  • Clubs that have Paul Harris points can match the points for every dollar a member gives to the foundation this month

District 7070 has a rich history of giving to The Rotary Foundation.  Let’s continue  our generosity.

My visits will continue this month, look forward to meet as many Rotarians from our District as I can, see you at one of the fundraisers or visit this coming month!

Yours in Rotary,

Iosif
