You will find it very rewarding and satisfying to know that you are making a difference.
Wild Polio Virus
We continue our fight against this terrible disease.
We cannot achieve this without your help.
I can see from the reports sent to me, that many of our clubs in District 7070 have not entered a goal against donations for Polio Plus.
I urge you all to make that commitment, to help us end this destuctive disease once and for all, before it takes another child.
Rotary Foundation Grants Management Seminar - Nov 18, 2023
On Saturday, November 18, 2023, the District will hold a Grants Management Seminar about the Rotary Foundation and its grants program. The seminar will be held at the Oshawa & District Shrine Hall in Oshawa.
Members of Rotary and Rotaract Clubs who attend the full program will meet the qualification requirements for both the current Rotary year and the 2024-25 year. The alternative of completing the modules and quizzes found on the District’s website will remain. Clubs must also submit Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to the District for each year.
The agenda for the seminar, which will start at 8 am and run to 2 pm, will include information on the Rotary Foundation, how to raise funds for the Foundation, how the funds become available to Clubs and Districts and ways the District allocates funds it receives Distrct Designated Funds (DDF). There will also be presentations of Global and District grant projects as well as a walk through of the District grant application process for the 2024-25 Rotary year. In addition, there will be an opportunity during the program for Clubs to share project ideas.
A draft agenda is posted on the District’s website in the November 18, 2023 calendar. Registration for the seminar is made on the District’s website. The seminar is free.
Devastation by Forest Fires
While we are used to experiencing forest fires each year, this year has been particularly extensive.
People have suffered in many ways.
Some have lost everything, and in some cases their lives.
Many have lost Hope
It is in situations such as this, that we can see the importance of Gordon McInally’s theme “Create Hope in the World”

I will keep reminding all of you to register for the District Conference, where we will have time to enjoy fellowship, learn and showcase that we are amazing.
I can see from my schedule that the months ahead will be very busy with many club visits organized. I look forward to meeting with you all personally.
I have seen and felt the energy and enthusiasm for our organization and the work we do as I make my visits. I am proud to be a part of it.
