In her August 2024 Newsletter, District 7070 Governor Virginia O'Reilly talks about her July visits to the Etobicoke Ribfest and their citizenship ceremony on Canada Day, and her visit to Toronto Danforth Rotary 9th installation dinner. She asks us to focus on membership during August  (Rotary's Membership and New Club Development Month). Virginia also talked about the Rotary Action Plan and its 4 strategic priorities, and urged us to register for the Oct 25 to 27 District Conference , to set our club goals in Rotary Club Central, and to plan when you want Virginia to attend your club on her official visit. .......      .

Greetings  Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors,  !!.

Welcome to ‘The Magic of Rotary!!’  I hope you’ve enjoyed a lovely warm July!!

July has breezed by for DG VOR!!  A few highlights… July 1st was a Citizenship Ceremony at the Etobicoke Rotary Ribfest where 40 new Canadians were sworn into citizenship in our great country.  Each one was so proud to have this very special event for them take place on Canada Day… a memory to have forever, and an event that touched the heart of DG Virginia!  I was so proud to join them.

On July 14th I was pleased to attend the 9th installation event for the Toronto Danforth Rotary Club.  It was an honour to welcome the first female President of the Toronto Danforth Club, Rehena Akhter. Rehena, best wishes for a very successful year as President with the full support of your Board and Club members.

And here we are headed into August, already!!

August is Membership and New Club Development month in Rotary.  Membership growth is at the top of the priority list for 2024-2025.  From RI President Stephanie - “We have to attract people to our existing Clubs, and we have to start new clubs.  That’s the way to grow Rotary and to have a future.  It is a future where there are many more Rotary members involved in service and fellowship.”

President Stephanie is part of the strategic team that developed Rotary’s Action Plan.  The Action Plan is our path to bring even more people together to create lasting and positive change in an evolving world.  While the world has changed since Rotary began in 1905 what hasn’t changed is the need for values that define Rotary:  fellowship, integrity, diversity, service and leadership.  The Action Plan is meant to help us evolve Rotary as an organization that continues to be relevant and is thriving! To make our Clubs and Rotary ‘simply irresistible’.

The Action Plan involves 4 strategic priorities.  The first priority is ‘Increase our Impact’.  We can Increase the Impact we have when we reach out to our communities and ask community members what they need – a Community Assessment!  Discuss how those needs can best be fulfilled, and then build projects around those needs.  And measure the impact the projects have, so you can spread the Magic!

All of us make the Magic of Rotary come alive…every project we work on, every donation we make, every time we collaborate to improve the lives and conditions of the people in our communities, both local and globally.  You are the Magic!!  Keep Making the Magic and Sharing the Magic so we can grow Rotary.

Three DG asks this month, please…

  1.  Register for the District Conference in Alliston at Nottawasaga Resort Inn & Convention Centre on October 25 to 27th

  2. Discuss and set your Club Goals and enter them into My Rotary in Rotary Club Central

  3. Plan a date for the District Governor Club visit with your Assistant Governor and connect with Sonya Chouljian (rotarysonya3@gmail.com) who is organizing the calendar.

Thank you!

Virginia
