Rotary Club of Uxbridge Charitable Foundation completes disbursement of funds for tornado relief.

THANK YOU ROTARY CLUBS.......

In the aftermath of the EF2 tornado that caused devastation and hardship in Uxbridge on May 21, 2022, the Township of Uxbridge asked The Rotary Club of Uxbridge Charitable Foundation to become the central vehicle to receive and disburse monetary donations to assist those affected. “Rotary is a trusted partner in our community, and well-equipped to assist. We knew they would be ready to help in any way they could. They didn’t disappoint.” said Mayor Dave Barton. “This wasn’t an easy task, and we are grateful to Rotary for stepping up to help the Community in a time of need”........

Through the collective generosity of the general public, local businesses, community partners, and several Rotary Clubs across Ontario, close to $85,000 was raised to support individuals and families most impacted by the tornado.

All of the funds have now been distributed to local charitable organizations that continue to play a critical role in alleviating food insecurity and assisting displaced residents. The recipients of these funds include the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) at Community Living Durham North, Feed The Need in Durham, North House, Salvation Army (Uxbridge Branch), and Team Rubicon Canada. We encourage anyone affected by the tornado and still in need of assistance, to reach out to these charitable organizations.

“The Rotary Club of Uxbridge is grateful for the confidence the community has placed in us and the tremendous outpouring of support. These were extraordinary circumstances, and we are proud to have been able to serve our community in this way.” said Disaster Relief Committee Chair, Michael Banh.
