On May 7, 2026, Richard Mewhinney, accompanied by Joan and John Barrett of the Scarborough Rotary Club had the opportunity to do a 1 hour talk show on Desert Stream Radio 106 FM in Amuria Uganda. This was a community Engagement segment for Ongutoi Health Centre III (A project that many clubs in District 7070 has supported). Radio is a critical communication tool in Uganda and more broadly Africa, given particularly in rural regions there is no other means to gain information. Therefore over 50 percent of Africans listen to radio every day!,,We were speaking on the availability and access to the Health Centre combined with the project Water Collection for Sustainability and the product Oranges equaling revenue for the Health Centre. What was intended as a 30 minute talk show was extended to an hour given the information being provided.
