In her July 2026 Newsletter, District 7070 Governor Liz Compton thanked Past District Governor Niecy for her leadership and friendship, joy and fun. Happy New Year to our Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors!
It is truly an honour and a privilege to serve as your District Governor for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
Before we look ahead, I would like to thank our Immediate Past District Governor, Niecy, for her incredible leadership. She brought so much joy, energy and fun to our District while making every member feel seen, heard and welcomed. And because of her, I think we all have at least one onesie in our closet!
"Unite for Good" wasn't just a theme—it was reflected in every project, every club meeting and every interaction she shared with our Rotary family. And the Epic Day of Service truly lived up to its name. Thank you, Niecy, from the bottom of my heart, for bringing us together to Unite for Good.
As we begin this new Rotary year, our international theme is "Create Lasting Impact." Lasting impact begins with our service projects, our events and our club meetings, but it also begins with each one of us. Together, let's share our Rotary stories. Why did you join? What made you stay? Those stories have the power to inspire others to become part of our Rotary family.
Membership remains one of my highest priorities. While welcoming new members is important, retaining those we already have is equally vital. We create clubs where people belong through open communication, meaningful connections and ensuring every member knows they matter.
Public Image is another key to our success. As Rotarians, we are naturally humble, but we shouldn't keep our successes a secret. Let's tell our story, celebrate our impact, showcase our members in action and, most importantly, let the world see the joy we have while serving our communities.
As many of you know, my personal theme for this year is The Power of Love. When we lead with kindness, compassion and genuine care for one another, we create an environment where people want to belong, serve and grow together.
I am excited for the journey ahead and look forward to visiting your clubs, hearing your stories, sharing laughter, maybe even a little dancing, and together creating a lasting impact across District 7070.
