Greetings Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors, !!. And there goes October WOW !
In my last missive I wrote that October was framing up to be a very busy month and it was!!
We started out with the Foundation Walk in Newmarket. Chair Laura Bradford and her team found us great weather, good food at a family friendly park. Great job! And thank you to the Exchange students for managing the Quarter Mile!! Please remember to send your funds raised to The Rotary Foundation.
Next came our D7070 World Polio Day celebration at the Rotary Global Classroom in the new Centre for Collaborative Education at Durham College on October 18th . The event organized by David Andrews, Jennifer Boyd and Jennifer Clark of Durham College brought together experts in the battle against Polio from around the world, some local Polio survivors and D7070 Rotarians from across D7070 including PRIP Wilf Wilkinson and Rika and Dr. Bob Scott and Ann.
On October 24th, Worldwide World Polio Day, Jennifer Boyd led ‘End Polio’ flag raising at Toronto City Hall.
And we ended the month with our 2024 District Conference at Nottawasaga Convention Centre on Oct 25th to 27th. Our Conference chair Tina Martin and her team put together an AMAZING conference with co-hosts Beccy Grieve and Neil Phillips guiding us through the day. We heard great speakers with amazing life experiences including a Polio survivor (yes, some tears were shed), heard how cities are working to improve the environment, went to India with the Beatles, made blankets, went forest bathing (😊) and had great entertainment. Most importantly we renewed Rotary friendships and made new ones!!
A tremendous weekend. Thank you to all involved in making this a great event.
And now November…lots of Club visits!!! If you haven’t registered for the Foundation Seminar on November 16th please do so – Clubs need to have two qualified members to apply for a District Grant.
You are the Magic of Rotary!! Keep Making the Magic and Sharing the Magic so we can grow Rotary.
