The District 7070 Leadership Team is seeking applicants for 4 NEW District 7070 Committees (see attached document for the new committee's mandate). 

The deadline for applications for all four new District committees is Friday, May 1, 2020. This is an extension of the original deadline of 3 April 2020 for the committees listed below.

Information about all four new District 7070 committees is included in the revised mandate document attached to this mandate. Please read it carefully. 

Application Process: Applicants for all four committees are asked to respond by email to Terry Caputo, Chair, Governance Committee, by Friday, May 1, 2020, at terrycaputo@outlook.com.

The email should outline the committee of interest and the eligibility of the applicant to serve as a committee member.  All applications will be considered and those to be interviewed will be notified by the Chair of the Governance Committee as soon as possible.

Introduction The District 7070 Leadership Team is currently seeking applicants for the following four new District Committees:

1. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

2. Leadership Development

3. Environmental Action

4. Technology and Information Management

The DEI and Leadership Development committees will operate under the direction of the Governance Committee of the District Board.

The Environmental Action and Technology Committee will operate under the direction of the Action and Partnerships Committee of the District Advisory Council.

The Technology and Information Management Committee will operate under the direction of the Administration and Support Committee of the District Advisory Council.

Membership of all committees will be a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 members, with each member serving for up to 3 years, in renewable one-year terms, beginning on July 1, 2020.

Application Process:

The request for applicants to form the first three new District Committees was emailed to all Rotarians and to Rotaract Club Presidents within District 7070 on Friday, March 13, 2020. This request was re-issued on Thursday, April 7, 2020 with the addition of the Technology and Information Management Committee. Applicants for the first three committees were asked to respond by email to Terry Caputo, Director, District Governance Committee, by Friday, April 3, 2020, at terrycaputo@outlook.com. The email should outline the committee of interest and the eligibility of the applicant to serve as a committee member. This deadline has now been extended to Friday, May 1, 2020, and a request for applicants to the Technology and Information Management Committee has been added. All applications will be considered, and those to be interviewed will be notified by the Chair of the Governance Committee as soon as possible.

1. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee

“As a global network that strives to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, Rotary values diversity and celebrates the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, religion, socio-economic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Rotary will cultivate a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture in which people from underrepresented groups have greater opportunities to participate as members and leaders.” Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement Passed by the Rotary International Board of Directors, January 2019

The mandate of the DEI Committee is to:

• contribute to the implementation of the RI Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement in District 7070 and to the relevant goals of the Rotary District 7070 Strategic Plan;

• enable District 7070 and Clubs to grow and better reflect the communities we serve and to be inclusive of all cultures, experiences, and identities;

• develop policies and best practices to make our District and Clubs more welcoming, inclusive, and appreciative of each other;

• provide opportunities to foster greater understanding and awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion matters, including DEI training, and;

• initiate activities to publicly celebrate our District’s wide range of diverse members with an understanding that we are open to all.

The DEI Committee will work in consultation with the District Training, Public Image, and Membership Committees to achieve its mandate. The committee liaises with and reports to Governance Committee of the District Board.

Who is eligible:

Any Rotarian or Rotaractor within District 7070 is invited to apply to be a member of the committee. Preference will be given to those who have:

• experience with and passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion;

• experience working in teams, committees, boards, or organizations, and;

• demonstrated commitment as a change-agent in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The committee will have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 members, with each member serving for up to 3 years, in renewable one-year terms, beginning on July 1, 2020. The chair of the committee is selected by the Chair of the District 7070 Governance Committee.

2. Leadership Development

“As we look ahead toward Rotary’s new Strategic Plan, one thing is very clear: to build the Rotary of the future, we need to be working much harder to develop Rotary leadership for the future. The mandate of the Leadership Development Committee is to:

• create and communicate clear and transparent pathways to leadership positions and opportunities within District 7070 and Rotary International;

• develop job descriptions for District 7070 leadership positions (in consultation with the Governance Committee);

• develop policies and best practices to ensure succession planning for District Leadership roles with the goal that the people in these roles reflect the broad diversity of the communities in which Rotary serves;

• increase the participation of Rotaractors in leadership roles;

• contribute to the implementation of the relevant goals of the Rotary District 7070 Strategic Plan, and;

• assist in the development and delivery of Leadership Development training, including education on new forms of leadership in the digital world.

The Leadership Development Committee will work in consultation with the District Training, Public Image, and Membership Committees to achieve its mandate. The committee liaises with and reports to Governance Committee of the District Board.

Who is eligible:

Any Rotarian or Rotaractor within District 7070 is invited to apply to be a member of the Leadership Development Committee. Preference will be given to those who have:

• experience with and passion for leadership development;

• experience working in teams, committees, boards, or organizations, and;

• demonstrated commitment as a change-agent in leadership development.

The committee will have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 members, with each member serving for up to 3 years, in renewable one-year terms, beginning on July 1, 2020. The chair of the committee is selected by the Chair of the District 7070 Governance Committee.

3. Environmental Action

“By helping to protect our natural world, we support all of our areas of focus, and take action to create positive, lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.” Mission Statement Rotary International Environmental Sustainable Rotarian Action Group (ESRAG)

The mandate of the Environmental Action Committee is to:

• contribute to the development and implementation of actions that align with the ESRAG mission statement and the Rotary District 7070 Strategic Plan;

• develop policies and best practices to lessen the environmental impact of Rotary activities in the District;

• undertake and promote District and club environment-related activities, including training, and;

• act as a resource for District and clubs on environmental matters.

The Environmental Action Committee will work in consultation with the District Governance and Training committees to achieve its mandate. The committee liaises with and reports to the Action and Partnerships Committee of the District Advisory Council.

Who is eligible:

Any Rotarian or Rotaractor within District 7070 is invited to apply to be a member of the committee. Preference will be given to those who have:

• experience with and passion for environmental sustainability;

• experienced working in teams, committees, boards, or organizations, and;

• demonstrated commitment as a change-agent in the area of environmental sustainability.

The committee will have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 members, with each member serving for up to 3 years, in renewable one-year terms, beginning on July 1, 2020. The chair of the committee is selected by the Chair of the District 7070 Action and Partnerships Committee.

4. Technology and Information Management

The mandate of the Technology and Information Management Committee is to:

• promote the enhanced use of technology, including information management systems, at both the district and club levels;

• develop policies and best practices related to the increased use of technology, including security considerations;

• act as a resource for District and clubs on technology and information management;

• assist in the development and delivery of technology to enhance the Rotary experience; and

• contribute to the implementation of the relevant goals of the Rotary District 7070 Strategic Plan.

The Technology & Information Management Committee will work in consultation with the District Governance Committee and the committees of the District Advisory Council to achieve its mandate. The committee liaises with and reports to the Administration and Support Committee of the District Advisory Council.

Who is eligible:

Any Rotarian or Rotaractor within District 7070 is invited to apply to be a member of the committee. Preference will be given to those who have:

• experience with and passion for using technology to achieve organizational goals;

• experienced working in teams, committees, boards, or organizations, and;

• demonstrated commitment as a change-agent in the area of technology and information management.

The committee will have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 members, with each member serving for up to 3 years, in renewable one-year terms, beginning on July 1, 2020. The chair of the committee is selected by the Chair of the District 7070 Administration and Support Committee.
