Past Rotary International President Wilf Wilkinson has been working hard with Mike Maloney, founder of The Maloney Method, to try to get some academic help for parents who have been pressed into service as teachers, during the COVID-19 crisis. His lessons have a 45 year history of doing well for kids. They are like recipes. If you follow the recipe carefully, you get success, even with children who struggle. this will be free, through Rotary, to all parents not just in District 7070, not just in Canada , but worldwide........ .

Mike and his Maloney Method has taught 100,000 children and adults to read, write and do math. They also have peer-reviewed published articles to support their work.

They have more than 400 lessons in reading, math, spelling, writing and reading comprehension that they will make available free through Rotary for parents, teachers and therapists during the COVID-19 epidemic.

They are working as fast as possible to provide as much help as possible. Over 100 of these lessons in reading and math are currently  posted on their website, https://www.maloneymethod.com/education-resources/free-lessons/

To download these lessons, the instructor (parent) simply fills in their first name, last name and e-mail address.

These lessons have a specific step-by-step lesson plan for the instructor, a student reader and a student workbook. There are placement tests available to get the student into the appropriate level of the reading, spelling or math programs. There are checkouts that the student does at the end of every lesson to demonstrate competency and be able to move to the next lesson. It is a complete package of recipes.

Mike can show you how to access them when you are ready. His email address is michaelmaloney1941@gmail.com
