The common buckthorn is an incredibly aggressive plant that outcompetes other native species and threatens biodiversity all across North America (and certainly across our District!). The Uxbridge Rotary Club has received a microgrant from the Invasive Species Centre to tackle the spread of common buckthorns in the Uxbridge Trails. We're leading a couple of teams into our beloved trail systems to mechanically remove these trees with specialized tools, called Puller Bears, that were purchased through the grant. You can help.....

We'll be collaborating with our town's Trails Committee and other community volunteers for this project on :

Saturday, Sept 16 (9am-12pm) @ O'Neil Trail

Let me know if you can attend either date to help out on this environmental project, and to spread awareness about the proper management of this invasive species. This is an initiative that all Rotary Clubs can easily implement in their own communities and attract volunteers interested in supporting the environment. Volunteers should dress appropriately with long pants, good work gloves, and come prepared with water, insect repellent and sunscreen as needed. Email uxbridgerotaryclub@gmail.com or michael.banh@gmail.com to let us know if they want to join in.

All Rotarians are welcome!
